Author & Biologist
Anne Biklé is an author, biologist and gardener whose wide-ranging interests have led
her into watershed restoration, environmental planning, and public health. She uses her
broad background and endless fascination with the natural world to investigate and write
about people and their environments.
She is the co-author (with David Montgomery) of The Hidden Half of Nature: The
Microbial Roots of Life and Health. The book weaves science, history, and personal
experience, to reveal how wrong we’ve been about the microbial world and why
microbiomes underpin the health of plants and people. One reader said, “It reads like a
John Grisham novel for soil and gut nerds!”
In her spare time she coaxes plants into rambunctious growth or nurses them back from
the edge of death. Her secret mission is to reconnect people to the intriguing and
unfolding story of their relationship with the botanical world.
