Sergio Nesaualkoyotl Martinez is Chicano/Indigenous social, cultural and food justice activist. His primary role in life is raising his 2 boys consciously in spirit and loving his duality, his wife more each day. He believes the revolution starts with yourself and at home. La Familia!
Sergio and his wife Angelica became pioneers of Re-emerging ancient foods such as Chia, Amaranth, Quinoa and Blue Corn Maiz in San Jose Ca.
Sergio co-founded a third party C.S.A named M.A.N.O-(Mantenimiento Agricola Nacido del Ombligo) in 2006 in order to provide access to local, organic vegetables to the San Jose Indigenous/Latino communities.
Sergio co-founded La Defensa del Maiz San Jose in 2010 and has been focused on working to defend and maintain the natural genetics of our sacred maiz from the corporate bio tech engineers. La Defensa del Maiz advocates for Native Maiz and takes action by growing our own Maiz, saving our seeds, and providing Non GMO products such as: Masa harina, Tortillas, Hominy, and Tamales…
Sergio also is the Program Manager for Valley Verde, a non-profit in San Jose/Gilroy that provides free raised beds, seedlings and organic soil to low income households to grow their own organic vegetables/herbs/flowers at home along with monthly Sustainable Gardening/Nutrition classes.
