The Soil Not Oil Coalition has launched Pies de Hormiga, an ambitious agro-ecological project in San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas.  In a 49 acres property that will include a seed cooperative, an agro-forestry project, an educational complex and an eco-village.

We are very excited to explore and work with the rich heritage of environmental stewardship and agro-ecological farming techniques in the region. We look forward to the positive impact this project will have in the local community and as part of the global movement for a more just and sustainable food system.

We are preparing series of workshops on agro-ecological practices, permaculture, natural building and sustainable technologies. These educational workshops include reality tours facilitated by the Soil Not Oil Coalition and led by local Mayan farmers and researchers.

The reality tours will take place on Saturday May18-19 & 20.  Workshops will go from Monday May 20 to 27. These events -are separated from-, but will take place following the 1st National Congress on Agro-ecology (May 12th -17th) that will bring hundreds of academics and researchers from around Mexico.
