The Soil Not Oil Coalition has launched Pies de Hormiga, an ambitious agro-ecological project in San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas.  In a 49 acres property that will include a seed cooperative, an agro-forestry project, a no-till farming operation, and an educational complex.

We are very excited to explore and work with the rich heritage of environmental stewardship and agro-ecological farming techniques in the region. We look forward to the positive impact this project will have in the local community and as part of the global movement for a more just and sustainable food system.

We are organizing guided visits and we hope that you can visit us and stay at Pies de Hormiga Hostel and enjoy Pies de Hormiga organic/vegan food at Pies de hormiga Organic Juicery and Café.

We are organizing a Soil Not Oil Delegation to the First Mexican Agroecology Congress from May 12-17, after the congress guided visits from May 18-22nd.

(You can also join us only for few days the donation would be proportional)

Soil Not Oil Coalition/Pies de hormiga are arranging 10 days lodging, transportation to all venues and sites (attendees arrange and pay their plane ticket), interpretation Spanish to English and Tsotsil-Spanish-English, provide 3 meals a day and help farmers and organizations that will host presentations and tours with a donation, for taking their time to share their work and experiences with us. It also includes the registration to the First Mexican Congress of Agroecology From May 12-17.

Pies de Hormiga Project is looking for volunteers committed to help for at least 2 weeks. We provide meals and there is a large cabin and space for camping.
